Program Description: The Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program produces monthly and annual estimates of civilian labor force, employment, unemployment, and unemployment rates for the state and sub-state areas in Kentucky. The Current Employment Statistics (CES) Program conducts monthly surveys of over 7,500 businesses to calculate employment, hours, and earnings estimates in non-agricultural industries.
Both of these programs operate under a Cooperative Agreement between Kentucky and the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Employees in these programs must follow BLS methodology in the creation of estimates, and adhere to the confidentiality guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Labor and the state of Kentucky.
Position Description: Performs professional statistical analytic work
in gathering, verifying, tabulating, and analyzing labor market and workforce
data. Reports labor market data for the LAUS Program and the CES Program.
Produces civilian labor force and current industry employment estimates on a
monthly and annual basis following procedures established by the U.S.
Department of Labor, BLS.
